MCB is seeking line/copy editors and proofers
Mischief Corner Books is a small press queer publisher with a focus in gay fiction and romance. We are seeking to build our team with line/copy editors and proofers.
Line/Copy Editors
Experience in editing gay fiction or romance is preferred but not necessary. This job entails knowledge of punctuation, grammar, word choice, sentence structure, verb tense usage, fact checks of the material, but also the understanding of author voice. MCB does not want to make clones of our authors. What we do want is for their authentic self and style to shine through the writing with the support of good editing.
Editors interested would be asked to edit a small selection from us to see if we fit. After that, if we both think we'd partner well, we'll go from there. Pay will be negotiated.

Proofers
Are needed because even editors and authors are not perfect. They are the last set of valuable eyes we have before the book is off for formatting. We need proofers to check for typos, missing punctuation, misspells, cases of vanishing words, repetitious words tripping the reader up, and to let us know if there needs to be clarification from the author.
Proofers do need to be able to defer to our editors and EIC. If interested, proofers can contact us below.
